REN YINPENG

Born into a family of cellists.

Influenced by his family to learn the cello at a young age.

In 2006, he participated in CCTV Children's Spring Festival Gala and became one of the finalists.

Attended Chongqing No. 8 Secondary School (重庆市第八中学校) and was a member of the school's Symphony Orchestra and Folk Orchestra.

A part-time cellist of the Chongqing Philharmonic Orchestra.

Can play piano, guitar, and harmonica as a hobby.

Good at calligraphy.

Unbeknownst to many, he is an extrovert with an introverted façade. His current MBTI is ENFP-T while his previous one is ESFP.

His family wanted him to pursue music but he did not want to "see the future at a glance" (his uncle and grandfather are both professional cellists) and had chosen to take the Engineering field.

A Water Conservancy and Hydropower Engineering student at Chongqing Jiaotong University (重庆交通大学).

Assigned as the Head of the Instrumental Music Department at the university's art troupe in his sophomore year.

In an interview, he shared that his established plan is to take a postgraduate examination and get a job in a construction company.

Participated in Tencent's The Coming One: Superband, finishing in fourth place after the Galaxy Band (银河系乐团), the band he is a member of and formed through the show, was eliminated in the semi-finals. However, despite being eliminated from the show, the band inked a two-year contract with Wajijiwa Entertainment and he officially graduated from the band upon their disbandment in September 2022.

Participated in Tencent's International Boy Group Survival Show, Produce Camp 2021 (创造营2021), in which he finished 19th place.

In 2022, he made his acting debut with a supporting role in iQiyi's time travel romance web drama, Love Unexpected (平行恋爱时差).

On July 22, 2022, his song entitled 《雨信》 /yǔxìn/ was released on various streaming platforms and its physical album can be purchased online.

In March 2023, Wajijiwa announced that he would be having a joint tour with fellow labelmate and good friend, Zhang Yihao, which would have a total of four stops.

Currently, he is pursuing his work in the industry and has been a guest on a band and different artists' national tours as a cellist.

He likes cantaloupe and spicy food but is not a huge fan of cherry tomatoes and durian.

His chaohua was created in November 2019 by students from his former school.

During TCO4, he used to save fan-taken photos of him weekly on his laptop and compiled them in a folder named '任胤蓬大帅哥' (Ren Yinpeng is a handsome guy).

Before '小蓬友' /xiǎopéngyǒu/, fans called themselves '莲子' /liánzǐ/.

If he had not joined TCO4 and entered the entertainment industry after, he has a plan of working in Africa in the future for several years after graduating.

He has a habit of touching his neck/nape when he's nervous.

He likes reading professional books and novels with critical-thinking plots.

He likes to add 毛肚 (beef tripe) and 鸭肠 (duck intestines) when eating hotpot.

In an interview, he said that if he is given another opportunity to do more dramas in the future, he would want to try more challenging roles, like antagonist/villain.

Henry Lau is his favourite Korean/Chinese singer and his favourite KPop Girl Group is f(x) during their active promotions but he never mentioned it to Teacher Amber Liu when he went to Produce Camp.

He obtained his driver's license in the summer of 2018.

In an application form before going to the island, he wrote that his "special skill" is that he once ate seven bowls of rice.

He had conducted an orchestra before.

He cherishes every fan's gifts for him— 1) the GUND Peter Rabbit Keyring that hangs from his cello case (and sometimes from his bag) was a gift from his fan club, 2) during his birthday Weibo live in 2021, he showed the orange box he received from his fans during TCO4 Doki Fanmeeting containing fans' gifts, 3) in one of his vlogs, the StellaLou plushie he received from a fan during his band's 「因你」Livehouse Tour in Tianjin was spotted, and 4) the Rabbit Fur Keyring that hangs from his bag was a gift from his fan club as he embarks on a new journey as a solo artist.

He has this 'lowkey way' of communicating with the fans and it's by occasionally updating his social media description/introduction.

The "任胤蓬绝不逃跑" (Ren Yinpeng will never run away) was originally his response to a fan who commented that he must never run away when the show ends on a Doki Interactive Activity during The Coming One 4. Later, this became his and his fans' motto.

Fans' most commonly used nicknames for him: 1) 大提琴王子 (cello prince), 2) 重庆第一深情, and 3) 重庆许愿池 (Chongqing wishing pond). The "重庆第一深情" nickname was coined by Yan Yongqiang in an episode of Bling Bling dé Time and the "重庆许愿池" (Chongqing wishing pond) was coined by the host of his birthday fan meet as Ren Yinpeng agreed to everything his fans requested.
